Hebden
Bridge Hostel,
The Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 8DG
The pic above right shows the
pedestrian entrance from Birchcliffe Rd.
Our OS
grid reference is SD 995 274. We're approximately 1.5 miles
from the Pennine Way.
Directions
to the hostel from the Southern section of the Pennine Way.
Satnavs and so on: The carpark
is not on Chapel Avenue (a
narrow cul-de-sac, impossible to turn a car around in) but on the left
just after the Birchcliffe
Centre which is just after the
turning into
Chapel Avenue! Use the top carpark. If you pass Sandy Gate you've gone
too far.
From the Railway Station
(less than one mile/approx 15 minutes walk):
- Follow the only road out
of the station carpark.
- At
the T-junction turn left onto
Burnley Rd (towards town).
- Take
the next right signposted
Keighley.
- Right
again onto Birchcliffe Rd and
steeply uphill.
- After
a sharp right-hand bend look left: go past the turnings into Edward St
and Chapel Avenue; next building is The Birchcliffe Centre (an old
Baptist Chapel).
- We
are behind the
Chapel and can be accessed on foot via the main Chapel gates.
- Cars:
turn left just after the
Birchcliffe Centre and park in the top carpark.
Local
buses to/from the station stop
outside the Hostel.
Take
the Dodd Naze Circular from the station:
One way around the circle will take you directly to the Hostel (get off
at the Birchcliffe Centre, before you reach Dodd Naze).
The other way around the circle will take you a
very scenic route via Old Town and Dodd Naze to the Birchcliffe
Centre and Hostel.
Hebden Bridge is less than an hour by train from both Leeds and
Manchester Victoria.
The
closest coach station is in Bradford, which is on the Leeds-Hebden
Bridge train line.
